Busy Girl’s Blues

The KU Democrats had a big shindig at Liberty last night, with Sebelius and Moore and other Democrat bigwigs, in addition to food and, most importantly, alcohol. I’ve been noticing recently that where there is alcohol, there will be Democrats. Seriously folks, no wonder the Repubs have such a stronghold here; now maybe if y’all could just put down the bottle for a whole day or two – but of course, that wouldn’t be nearly as much fun. It was all right I guess, but it was a bit too much for me, since I hadn’t had a break since I woke up yesterday morning. I hate crowds and politics, and the combination of the two was starting to make me flip out, so we left after just 45 minutes. I did get close enough to Kathleen Sebelius to be able to spill beer on her shoes, though – she’d probably kick me out of Kansas if it came to that.

It’s only been a week and a half that I’ve been at school and I already feel run down. I’m only taking 13 hours, too – I haven’t taken under 16 since my freshman year. Yet I find myself trapped on campus almost every day from 9:30 – 7:00, and I barely see my house. My cat yowled and jumped on me all night, probably upset that he had to share the bed with me now. What’s really upset me is that I haven’t had the time to pick up the guitar. I’m not even that good at it yet, but it’s such a release to sit and play for awhile. Even if it’s just “Sweet Jane” for an hour cause that’s all I know how to play and sing at all well. I think when I get the chance, probably a million years from now, I’ll take up song writing and sing about my boss Jodie, who is dressed like a leprechaun’s housewife today. She drives Belle and I crazy.
