Moving on up
Though Blogger has been more or less pretty great, especially for my limited needs, it’s time to move on to bigger and technologically better things. It’s kind of funny – even though this is just the internet, it’s kind of like moving in real life. Except without having to heft boxes of largely unneeded trash that I meant to sort through months in advance, but kept putting off until the actual moving day, at which point it’s not worth it to do anything but toss everything in sacks in a huge frenzy of sweat and panic.
No, moving on the internet only involves the movement of files, words, ms-paint pictures and blurry cat photos, making internet relocations infinitely more pleasant than physical ones. And, luckily enough for me, doesn’t require the assistance of boyfriends (who somehow manage to be conveniently out of town for most of the moving process!), or friends who say they’ll help and then suddenly have a sick aunt or graduation in Podunk, KS to attend on moving day, or friends who do help but who have to be somehow entertained or rewarded afterwards, when you and the two people that you’ve somehow ensnared into helping are sweaty and cranky and ready to pass out.
Not to mention the labor-intensive task of relocating the cat as well, who typically mounts a valiant struggle against being moved. Hopefully old age is starting to mellow the little fur-hellion (he is 44 years old in cat years, my how time flies), as moving him was a dream last year. I just picked him up, stuffed him in the carrier, and took him to the vet – all without the use of drugs or blow-darts to sedate the beast. He got his shots, even had his teeth examined (aside from having really stinky breath, his dental status is excellent), and immediately strutted around the new apartment like he’d been born and raised there. I’m praying for the miracle to repeat itself next July 31st.
Sheesh, this post certainly derailed. Here I am, already complaining (physical) moving day, and it’s still a full nine months away. Perhaps this time I really will get rid of all my unneeded junk. Watch for pigs soaring the skies sometime in May.
–edit: Damn. PHP is pretty dang different from HTML. It’s like going from Eudora, KS to the big leagues (hyuk, hyuk). Well, while I try to figure out what the hell I am doing, for now I will have this nice (but rather dull) default template.
